Jaipur: Hanumangarh police Monday arrested six men, including history-sheeter Irfan Khan alias Faan, in connection with an attempt-to-murder case involving firing near Lakhuvali village. Police seized six firearms and 10 live cartridges from the accused.Superintendent of Police B Adhitya said the haul included a .32-bore pistol, five country-made firearms and 10 live cartridges. Irfan carried a Rs 50,000 reward by the IG, Bikaner Range.According to police, complainant Juma Khan, 33, said that on Aug 17, Irfan, Asim and others intercepted their vehicle, smashed its window with a stick and opened fire. The trio fled, but the accused allegedly blocked them again at Lakhuvali intersection and fired another round, forcing them to abandon the vehicle. An FIR was registered on Aug 18 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act.Adhitya said 10 special teams examined footage from 100 CCTV cameras, analysed toll plaza records, questioned suspects and used drones to search fields and hideouts across Hanumangarh, Sriganganagar and Bikaner districts.During a blockade near Shergarh outpost on the Hanumangarh-Rawatsar Mega Highway, police received information about two suspects fleeing on a motorcycle. The vehicle was intercepted on the Chak 22 NDR-Adarsh Nagar Semnala link road, leading to the arrest of Irfan and Priyakant alias Tony Takhar.Based on their interrogation, police arrested four more associates — Asim, Ibrahim, Nadeem Khan and another accused — near Lakhuvali.Police said Irfan has 42 criminal cases against him, while Priyakant has around 12 cases, including offences under the NDPS Act, Arms Act and attempt to murder. Police said the accused had been evading arrest since the firing incident. Investigation is underway.
