Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday joined the audience for the inaugural performance of the theatrical production Hamare Ram in Mohali, featuring actor Ashutosh Rana in a lead role.The event marked the beginning of a statewide cultural initiative under which the Punjab government will organise 41 free performances across 12 cities during August and September.Describing the initiative as an effort to take the timeless teachings of Lord Shri Ram to the people, Mann said the programme aims to reinforce the values of Sanatan Dharma while spreading the message of truth, righteousness, compassion and unity through theatre.Reaffirming his government’s commitment to preserving Punjab’s rich cultural heritage, the chief minister said the performances have been made free of cost so that people from all sections of society can experience and draw inspiration from the life and ideals of Lord Shri Ram.Addressing the gathering, Mann said, “The Punjab government is organising 41 performances of the acclaimed production across 12 cities of the state during August and September. Punjab is a sacred and historic land, and the state government is committed to preserving its glorious legacy. Hamare Ram beautifully brings to life the timeless teachings and ideals of Lord Shri Ram. A special highlight of this production is the participation of internationally acclaimed actor Ashutosh Rana, whose powerful performance adds immense value to the show.”The series began in Mohali on Friday and will travel to 11 other cities across Punjab, including Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Patiala, Ludhiana, Sangrur and Khanna.Through this initiative, the state government aims to promote Punjab’s cultural heritage and traditional values.Referring to similar cultural programmes organised by the government, Mann said, “Earlier, our government organised Ek Shaam Shiv Ke Naam across all districts of the state, which received an overwhelming response from the public. The government is also organising programmes dedicated to the 650th Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj, reflecting its commitment to honouring the spiritual heritage of all communities.”
