Guwahati’s Yashraj Singh tops NE in JEE Main with 99.98

Guwahati: Yashraj Singh of Guwahati topped the northeast in JEE Main 2026 with a 99.98 NTA Score, narrowly missing a perfect 100, after final results were declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday. He also emerged as Assam’s state topper.Tripura topper Adriraj Saha scored 99.86, followed by Arunachal Pradesh’s Aiman Tanish with 99.73, Manipur’s Clinton Akoijam with 99.55, Meghalaya’s Vishnu Bhardwaj Upadhyay with 98.96, Mizoram’s Ramdinsanga with 97.03, and Nagaland’s Victor Sunep Dowarah with 94.74.Northeast topper Yashraj said his next goal is to qualify for JEE Advanced and secure admission in Computer Science Engineering at IIT Delhi. The son of a railway employee, he said he hopes to join the corporate sector later, while keeping other options open. He appeared for the CBSE Class 12 Board Examination this year and is awaiting results. “After matriculation, I started preparation for JEE Main and Advanced, and I am happy that my hard work paid off,” Yashraj told TOI, crediting his parents and the coaching institute in Guwahati.NTA conducted JEE Main 2026 in two sessions — Session 1 in Jan and Session 2 in April. The final results declared on Monday reflected candidates’ best score across both sessions along with ranks. Students could appear in one or both sessions, affecting their chances of admission to top engineering institutes.Yashraj appeared in Session 1 in Jan and went on to become the northeast topper in the final results. JEE Main serves as the screening test for JEE Advanced, which selects candidates for admission to the IITs. JEE Main qualifiers are also eligible for admission to several technology institutes and engineering colleges across the country.
