Gandhinagar: Newly elected MLA from Manjalpur, Satish Patel, took oath as a member of the legislative assembly in Gandhinagar on Tuesday. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by assembly speaker Shankar Chaudhary.

Chief whip of the assembly, Balkrishna Shukla, legislative and parliamentary affairs minister Rushikesh Patel and other ministers and MLAs were present for the oath-taking ceremony.Earlier this month, Satish Patel of the BJP won the Manjalpur assembly byelection with a margin of over 30,000 votes, defeating his nearest rival Bhikha Rabari of the Congress. The byelection was necessitated after the death of eight-time MLA Yogesh Patel.The BJP has 162 MLAs, Congress has 12, AAP has five, SP has one and there are two independents in the 182-member Gujarat assembly.
