Gandhinagar: For many job seekers, interviews remain the toughest stage of the recruitment process. Gujarat govt plans to change that with a free AI-powered platform that will conduct virtual mock interviews and offer personalised preparation for candidates seeking jobs in govt as well as private sectors.Officials say it is expected to improve employability while creating a statewide database of job aspirants. The platform, being developed by the state education department, is in the trial phase now and will be available through a web portal and a mobile application in a couple of months. It will support multiple languages, including Gujarati, Hindi, and English.Officials said it is being designed with help from the industry for a broad range of aspirants, including candidates preparing for govt recruitment, private sector jobs, competitive exams such as UPSC and GPSC, and specialised posts including doctors in the state healthcare system and engineers in govt departments.According to officials, the platform will offer sector-specific interview preparation with customised training modules based on the local needs of the industry. “Virtual interviewers will conduct mock interviews tailored to the candidate’s chosen field. The objective is to familiarise candidates with the type of questions they are likely to face and the way interview panels evaluate them. It will allow candidates to assess their preparedness and improve their performance,” a senior official associated with the project said. The govt also plans to set up AI-enabled virtual interview centres at institutions such as the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA), universities and other educational campuses.Every year, lakhs of candidates apply for recruitment exams and vacancies across various govt departments. Officials believe the platform will help narrow the gap between academic qualifications and interview skills while improving employability. According to officials, the information will help the govt better understand the demands of the workforce and plan employment initiatives for both govt and private sectors.
