Gujarat family alleges assault at Kaal Bhairav Temple, 3 held

Varanasi: A family from Navsari, Gujarat, has alleged assault and misbehaviour at the Kaal Bhairav temple, highlighting the issue of harassment by florists, vendors of worship items and pimps.DCP Kashi Zone Gaurav Banswal said on Monday that after the family lodged an FIR at Kotwali police station, police teams were deployed to examine CCTV footage to identify the accused. During the investigation, Kotwali police arrested three accused — Amit Yadav, Aman Sharma, and Rajneesh Yadav.In his complaint, Mukesh Patel of Navsari alleged that he and his family were standing in a queue near the exit gate on Saturday when three to four youths arrived and closed the barricade. As a result, his mother was left stranded on one side while his father and brother remained on the other.According to Patel, when his father requested the youths to open the barricade so the family could stay together, they allegedly grabbed him by the throat. Patel further alleged that when he attempted to record the incident, three to four miscreants snatched his mobile phone and assaulted him.Patel sustained a leg injury in the attack, while his mother was also allegedly misbehaved with.ACP Kotwali Vijay Pratap Singh said apart from initiating stern action in this episode, measures were also being initiated to put an effective check on those anti-social elements, who cause inconvenience and challenge the safety of devotees.Police personnel have also been instructed to respond swiftly in such cases, he said, adding that teams were still reviewing CCTV footage to identify accomplices of the three accused.ACP Kotwali Vijay Pratap Singh said that, apart from taking strict action in this case, steps were also being taken to effectively curb anti-social elements who disturb and threaten the safety of devotees.
