Lucknow: A key missing link in Lucknow’s Green Corridor is set to open next month, offering relief to commuters on the congested Daliganj-KGMU stretch, while the LDA has cleared plans for a new railway overbridge at the Kot Pipraghat crossing.An official related to the green corridor project said the Daliganj-Pakka Pul stretch is in the final stage of construction. Railway work on the ROB is complete, and slab laying has started. The route, which missed its June deadline, is expected to open to traffic next month.Officials said the opening will ease congestion on Mahatma Gandhi Marg and around KGMU, where nearly one lakh commuters are affected by traffic jams.The LDA is also preparing to construct a 240-metre-long and 12-metre-wide ROB at Kot Pipraghat under the third phase of the Green Corridor. The project will cover around six kilometres between Pipraghat and Shaheed Path and will improve connectivity between the Cantonment area, Ayodhya Road and Kanpur Road. The existing Dilkusha-Green Corridor link, which is around nine metres wide, will also be widened.LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar said the ministry of defence had given permission to work on the Army land required for the project. “There is no hurdle in constructing the ROB. The railways and Cantonment Board will also be informed before work begins,” he said.The third phase is targeted for completion before March next year. The LDA plans to complete the road widening along with the ROB.The Green Corridor’s first phase between IIM Road and Pakka Pul has been operational for around two years. The second phase has reduced travel time between Daliganj and Samtamulak Chowk to around 10-15 minutes from nearly 30 minutes.
