Govt to run independently, not from BJP office: Samik | Kolkata News

Kolkata: The new BJP govt in Bengal will work in coordination with the party and the administration won’t be run from the party office, state president Samik Bhattacharya said on Monday. After meeting CM Suvendu Adhikari at his residence in the morning, Bhattacharya said the party and govt will have a synergy as in other BJP-governed states. “We have an internal mechanism to maintain that. We have been doing that in other BJP-governed states across India. The govt will focus on governance,” he added. The party and administration would work on collective approach and communication as in other BJP-governed states, state BJP netas pointed out.Bhattacharya pitched BJP’s manifesto as the “guiding principle” for the new govt and said “the govt will ensure that the promises in the manifesto are fulfilled”.“This will not be a BJP govt and will act independently. It will ensure law and order. The state govt had become a Trinamool govt so far and it never transformed into a West Bengal state govt. We are witnessing Trinamool workers trying to turn into BJP workers overnight. The govt will have to stop these ‘tatkal BJP workers’ who are creating trouble in a number of places. If any BJP worker is found involved in it, the party will take action against them,” he said.Bhattacharya said the opposition will have “enough space to voice their concerns and criticise the govt”. “The media will enjoy freedom under this govt and people will not be constrained. Whether someone is a fish-seller, vegetable vendor or in real estate, he will not face any trouble. No industrialist will ever face any trouble,” he said, claiming that the new govt will put an end to syndicate raj and extortion.Bhattacharya said the govt has not set any target till date. “The ministry has not been formed yet. But it will soon start working based on deadlines and targets. Condition of finance looks bad and ministers had a preliminary discussion over that. The central leadership is also looking into it. That is the benefit of a ‘double engine’ govt,” he said.Govt to start helpline for extortion plaintsThe Bengal govt will start a helpline for people that will deal with complaints of extortion and CM Suvendu Adhikari is likely to announce that on Tuesday, Bengal BJP sources said. “BJP does not have any trade union in Bengal or student’s organisation. An auto driver may carry a flag as a citizen and may be a party supporter, but none will be allowed to extort money from people posing as a BJP worker or BJP’s trade union worker. No one will be allowed to stop work of a real estate project and demand money,” BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya said.
