Govt to probe treatment denial charge against Tura hospital

Shillong: Meghalaya govt has constituted a four-member enquiry committee to probe into the alleged of a child suspected to have rabies being refused admission at Tura Civil Hospital in West Garo Hills.The Directorate of Health Services (MI) issued the order following media reports about the incident that reportedly occurred on Apr 25.The committee, to be headed by Dr Sombari Boro, joint director of health dervices (Garo Hills division), will include Dr Perosh Marak, joint director of health services (MCH&FW), Dr Cruzie N Sangma, district medical and health officer and Dr Valerie Laloo, state surveillance officer under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).The committee is required to inquire into the circumstances surrounding the alleged denial of admission and lapses, negligence, or dereliction of duty, if any, on part of the medical stuff. The committee has been directed to submit its report within seven days.
