Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday announced that the state govt will deposit ₹2,400 crore towards fee reimbursement directly into students’ bank accounts in advance from the current academic year.The govt has already released ₹250 crore for the scheme.Addressing a public meeting after unveiling the statues of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule near PV Marg Necklace Road, the CM referred to the request made by BJP MP R Krishnaiah, and said students would receive the reimbursement within a month of applying online. The new system aims to prevent colleges from withholding students’ certificates over delays in fee reimbursement.During the meeting, the CM also announced plans to introduce skill-based education from nursery to Class 12.“Possessing a certificate is not enough these days. Everyone should acquire technical skills to get jobs in the competitive world,” Revanth said.The CM said advanced technical centres (ATCs) had been established in all 119 constituencies in collaboration with the Tata Group in 2024. Students enrolled in the centres receive a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 while acquiring technical skills alongside formal education.Highlighting the govt’s focus on education and employment, he said 60% of candidates selected in the Group-I recruitment belonged to SC, ST, BC and minority communities. He also pointed to the Young India Sports University and said athletes who excel and win medals would be supported with cash rewards and government jobs.He urged young people to draw inspiration from Jyotirao Phule and pursue education and public service. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the govt remained committed to the self-respect and upliftment of backward and weaker sections and to the ideals of the Phule couple.TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud said the govt was taking steps to honour social reformers and announced that a statue of Sarvai Papanna would also be unveiled soon.
