Lucknow: Patient footfall at govt hospitals in the state increased by about 16%, while OPD visits and inpatient admissions rose by 12.7% and 19.7%, respectively, according to official data from the Hospital Information System (HIS) for 2025-26 released here on Tuesday.Stating that the rise reflected growing public confidence in govt healthcare services, deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said, “Providing high-quality healthcare services to the people is our government’s top priority. We are working to make govt healthcare more accessible, efficient, modern and patient-centric.”HIS data showed that govt hospitals recorded 26.21 crore OPD visits in 2025-26, up from 23.26 crore in 2024-25. This represented an increase of nearly 2.95 crore visits in a year.The number of patients admitted to govt hospitals also rose from 1.03 crore in 2024-25 to 1.23 crore in 2025-26, an increase of 20.29 lakh admissions.Pathak said the rise in patient numbers came amid efforts to strengthen infrastructure and expand medical services at govt hospitals. “We are continuously strengthening hospital facilities and resources to ensure that patients receive quality treatment that is accessible and timely,” he said.He said govt hospitals had been upgraded with modern medical equipment, while the capacity for dialysis, pathology and radiology services had also been expanded. Ambulance services had been improved to facilitate the timely transportation of patients to hospitals, he added.Pathak said the health department was also focusing on ensuring that eligible beneficiaries received the benefits of central and state healthcare schemes.
