Mumbai: A 54-year-old chauffeur on a government vehicle died by suicide at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Thursday morning, police said.The deceased, Pramod Jadhav (54), left a suicide note written in Marathi addressed to his wife and daughter, saying he was depressed due to his chronic kidney ailment and nobody should be held responsible for his death, said police.Sahar police senior inspector Manoj Chalke said an accidental death report has been registered based on the suicide note found on Jadhav, who was undergoing treatment for Stage 2 Chronic Kidney Disease for the last six months.Jadhav, who lived in Worli Village, was among the two drivers stationed at the airport 24×7 to pick up and drop government officials, including judges, registrars and bureaucrats. Police said they have sought CCTV footage from the airport authority to analyse Jadhav’s behaviour before taking the extreme step around 11.30am.“His wife and college-going daughter told the police that he was depressed because of his illness, but they never thought that he would take the extreme step,” said a police officer.Need help?
