Panaji: State-run defence shipbuilder Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) saw its total revenue, breaching the Rs 4,000 crore threshold this fiscal year to reach Rs 4,004 crore for the first time in the history of the shipyard. The surge was powered by a 32% increase in revenue from operations to Rs 3,764 crore, driven by accelerated vessel deliveries to Indian Armed Forces and expanding international export orders.Speaking at the company’s annual general meeting, chairperson and managing director (CMD) Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay announced that GSL’s order book stood at over Rs 13,000 crore as of March 31. The company is set to add significant revenue visibility in the coming years, with the order pipeline expected to expand to approximately Rs 32,400 crore upon the formal signing of an upcoming high-value naval contract, he said.Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose to Rs 522 crore from Rs 460 crore in FY 2024-25, while profit before tax (PBT) grew 17% year-on-year to Rs 442 crore. Driven by sustained profitability, the shipbuilder’s net worth reached an all-time high of Rs 1,936 crore.On the operational front, the shipyard launched the first next-generation offshore patrol vessel (NGOPV) for the Indian Navy on March 3 alongside ongoing work on advanced stealth frigates. Key milestones for the Indian Coast Guard included the delivery of the first pollution control vessel, ICGS Samudra Pratap, on Dec 23 and the sequential delivery of six fast patrol vessels between June 2025 and Aug 2026.The shipbuilder’s export business also saw significant growth, with export turnover surging 55% to Rs 127 crore during the year. Overseas achievements included the launch of a 4,000-tonne floating dry dock for a foreign navy and the keel laying of a 2,000-cubic-metre trailing suction hopper dredger for a European client. Notably, GSL designed and constructed the fast patrol vessel LESPWAR, which was officially handed over to Seychelles Coast Guard by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 27.As part of its broader corporate governance initiatives, GSL invested Rs 8.6 crore during the financial year in community welfare projects covering healthcare, education, sanitation, women empowerment and livelihood development under its CSR programme.
