Panaji: Maximum temperatures rose above normal across Goa as the southwest monsoon remained weak over the state, with only very light rainfall recorded at isolated places during the past 24 hours.According to the India meteorological department (IMD), rainfall activity was largely subdued on Sep 11 as the state recorded an average rainfall of just 0.1mm, against the normal of 8.3mm for the day, representing a 99.2 % deficiency.The rainfall distribution table showed “nil” rainfall across all rain gauge stations except Ponda, which recorded 1mm.The weather remained relatively warm. At Panaji, the maximum temperature was 32.8°C, which was 2.8°C above normal while the minimum temperature was 25°C, or 1°C above normal. At Mormugao, the maximum reached 32.9°C, standing 3°C above normal, and the minimum was 25.2°C, 1°C above normal.Humidity remained high, at 84% in Panaji and 90% in Mormugao.The subdued rainfall comes amid a continuing seasonal rainfall deficit in Goa. From June 1 to Sep 11, the state as a whole had received 1,960.1mm of rain against the normal 2,827.4mm, a deficiency of 30.7%.
