Give ₹2,500 monthly aid to women: KTR to govt

Hyderabad: Taking a dig at Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy for saying that he will not rest until one crore women turn crorepatis, BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday said that he would quit politics if Revanth deposited ₹1.5 lakh in every woman’s account.KTR said the Congress govt should first fulfil its promise of providing ₹2,500 monthly assistance to women before speaking about creating one crore women crorepatis. He alleged that Revanth had cheated the people of the state in the name of six guarantees and 420 promises. KTR also questioned the govt’s priorities, alleging that while it claimed to lack funds to fulfil welfare promises made during the election campaign, it was willing to spend ₹1.5 lakh crore on the Musi project.“He doesn’t have money to implement welfare schemes. They stopped Rythu Bandhu, but Rahul Bandhu seems to be running well,” he said, adding that the Congress govt had accumulated debt of nearly Rs 4 lakh crore in two-and-a-half years while failing to adequately support farmers.During the meeting, the former IT minister also sought to create awareness about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, scheduled to begin on June 25, and urged party cadres to ensure that no eligible voter was removed from the rolls. He also asked party workers to treat the voter-list revision exercise as a booth-level mobilisation campaign, saying that the BRS’s return to power would depend on securing majorities in individual polling booths.KTR further announced that the party would soon launch a statewide membership drive and said a dedicated app had been developed to assist booth-level workers with voter outreach and enrolment. He urged party workers to use the SIR house visits to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
