Hyderabad: Gig and platform workers on Friday withdrew their proposed statewide strike scheduled to begin on Aug 8 after successful talks with the Telangana govt, which assured them that their demands would be addressed and implementation guidelines for the Telangana Gig Workers Welfare Act would be notified soon.Labour minister G Vivek Venkatswamy, who held discussions with representatives of gig and platform workers’ unions at the Secretariat, said the govt was committed to ensuring social security and protecting the rights of gig workers. He assured the unions that their demands would be examined sympathetically and appealed to them to remain patient until the implementation framework was finalised.Welcoming the assurances, the unions called off the strike, expressing confidence that the govt would implement the welfare law in its true spirit.
