Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Saturday conducted a special citywide drive to clear encroachments from roads and pedestrian pathways.According to GHMC officials, 283 encroachments were removed during the June 20 drive, including 79 permanent structures and 204 temporary occupations. The operation covered several areas, including Shamshabad, Charminar, Golconda, Basheer Bagh, Kacheguda railway station, and Barkatpura.Officials said that since April, a total of 2,620 encroachments have been removed through similar enforcement drives carried out across the GHMC limits. The civic body added that such drives will continue in the coming months to ensure that roads and footpaths remain free from unauthorised occupations.GHMC appealed to citizens, vendors, and shopkeepers to cooperate with the initiative by refraining from encroaching on roadsides and footpaths. Officials warned that violations would invite departmental action and the immediate removal of encroachments.
