Gehlot accuses BJP govt of ‘deliberately’ starving Bal Gopal scheme of supplies

Jaipur: Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot Monday slammed BJP govt over milk powder supply disruption in govt schools, calling it ‘a deliberate strategy to kill the scheme by quietly cutting off the supplies’.Gehlot’s remarks came after TOI reported Monday that only 41.9% of the approved milk powder requirement for Rajasthan schools has been supplied in the last three months, disrupting regular milk distribution to students under the Pannadhay Bal Gopal Yojana.“This is not mere negligence but a deliberate strategy—something I had warned about earlier. Lacking the courage to shut down public welfare schemes, the BJP govt has resorted to a conspiracy to kill them off by quietly cutting off supplies; this is the true face of the BJP govt,” Gehlot said.TOI reported that in districts like Bharatpur, Alwar, Udaipur, Dholpur, Deeg, Khairtal, Bundi, Nagaur, Karauli, Jaisalmer, Didwana-Kuchaman, Baran, Bikaner, Kota, Kotputli-Behror, Pali and Pratapgarh, there has been no doorstep delivery of milk to schools for the requirement approved for April till Sept 2026.“I warned the public about a year before the Assembly elections that if the BJP came to power, it would discontinue the schemes started under the Congress govt. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had then stated that this would not happen. While the BJP govt could not issue official orders to shut down these schemes, it has halted the supply of essential materials required for them, effectively causing the schemes to wither away on their own,” Gehlot added.
