Hyderabad: A 37-year-old auto driver-turned-garment seller, Md Fasi Ahmed Amer, was hacked to death in full public view, allegedly by his neighbour due to personal grudges at Singareni Colony in Saidabad on Tuesday morning. The victim succumbed to injuries while being shifted to Osmania General Hospital (OGH). The accused is absconding and the Saidabad police have launched a manhunt to nab him.Around 10.30 am, Amer, a resident of Singareni Colony, was intercepted by Suman, an auto driver from the same locality near the latter’s house while Amer was returning home after dropping his daughter at a local madrassa. Suman launched a sudden attack on Amer on the street near his house in Singareni Colony with a sickle used to chop tender coconuts. Amer suffered multiple injuries and collapsed at the spot. After the assault, Suman fled from the area and locals rushed Amer to Osmania General Hospital (OGH) after alerting police.Alerted by the locals, Saidabad police personnel rushed to the spot and secured the crime scene. “Amer was declared brought dead at OGH,” Saidabad inspector B Chandra Mohan said.During the preliminary probe, police found out that the accused and the deceased had personal grudges due to arguments they had over petty issues while consuming liquor. “Amer used to abuse Suman using objectionable language. Due to the grudge, on Tuesday morning, while Amer was passing by his house, Suman followed him and attacked him with a sickle,” assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Saidabad, S Venkat Reddy said.A CLUES Team reached the crime scene and collected forensic evidence. The Saidabad inspector said that they were verifying if the accused or the deceased had any criminal antecedents.On the complaint of Amer’s family, a case was registered against Suman under Section 103 (1) (Murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The body of Amer was shifted to OGH morgue for a post-mortem examination.
