Mumbai: Bombay high court on Wednesday said “positive steps” must be taken for improving health and hygiene even as BMC assured the court that garbage transport vehicles would not be parked in future near heritage sites in Fort area.A bench led by Justice Girish Kulkarni was hearing petitions regarding the Kanjurmarg dumping ground. It recorded BMC’s compliance with its recent orders that prohibited garbage collection and parking of such vehicles near heritage sites such as Mumbai University, HC, City Civil Court and parallel to the Oval Maidan.BMC’s affidavit said show-cause notices were issued to senior officers of the solid waste management department and a nodal officer was appointed to monitor compliance. It undertook henceforth to “strictly” comply with HC orders. Accepting the undertaking, HC directed BMC to take “all care and caution” to ensure compliance.
