Noida: Residents across Noida and Greater Noida have complained of delayed or missed garbage collection after recent showers, with waste piling up in several neighbourhoods. Unpicked garbage has raised concerns over sanitation and the risk of disease. In Noida, complaints were reported from sectors 82, 31, 100 and 40, among others, while in Greater Noida, residents flagged similar issues in Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Ecotech 3, etc.Sector 82 RWA president Raghvendra Dubey said that vehicles do not come to pick up garbage until afternoon. “This delay is causing residents to dispose of waste indiscriminately, creating unsightly and unhygienic conditions near entrance points. The foul smell from the piles of garbage outside the main gate is unbearable,” Dubey said, urging officials to ensure the sanitation system operates smoothly.
Waste clogs drains in Sector 31, Noida
In Sector 31’s B block, residents reported a garbage dump forming right outside their homes. In Sector 40, residents said sewers have been clogged with waste and water is overflowing onto the roads.Pawan Yadav, from Century Apartments Sector 100, said the city’s sanitation has significantly declined following recent showers. Criticising the current approach, where employees spend more time on administrative tasks instead of keeping the city clean, he urged the establishment of a dedicated sanitation department.The situation is no different in Greater Noida.Amit Upadhyay, president of the Industrial Business Association at Ecotech 3, called for collective responsibility among residents to maintain cleanliness and individual action and responsibility to properly dispose of waste. Residents from other sectors, however, said there was a need for increased enforcement against littering.
Garbage piles up in Beta 1, Greater Noida
“GNIDA’s public health department officials should take action against those discarding waste in public areas, particularly residents living in nearby paying guest accommodations,” said Harinder Bhati, RWA general secretary of Beta 1.Neelam Yadav, a Beta 2 resident, also raised concerns over the waste collection schedule. Garbage collectors failed to show up in the sector for the past two days, leading to waste piling up in public spaces, she said.“With water accumulated in places, waste dumps and lack of sanitation, we can only hope that a disease outbreak is not the next big challenge left to face,” said Yadav.Waste collection was conducted in some Greater Noida sectors on Tuesday afternoon, but many areas in both Noida and Greater Noida remained neglected.Officials from the Noida and Greater Noida authorities said that waste has accumulated in parts of the district as workers could not reach these areas due to incessant rain. The areas in question have since been cleaned and the remaining waste will be cleared soon, they added.
