Gurgaon: With several families found registered at different polling stations during the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, election officials have opened a correction window to help club family members at a single booth.District election officer Uttam Singh said the mismatch is largely reported from sectors and colonies where two polling stations share a building but cover different areas, prompting family members to file Form 6 applications with different BLOs. Voters wanting all eligible family members listed at one booth can now apply via Form 8 during the claims and objections period, from July 21 to Aug 20.Singh advised new voters to cite the details of an already-registered family member while filling Form 6, and to submit the application to the BLO of the same polling station, to avoid future discrepancies.“BLOs are continuing door-to-door visits to distribute, collect and digitise enumeration forms. Voters should submit forms to their designated BLOs within the stipulated time,” he said.The house-to-house verification drive will continue until July 14, with forms submitted either online or handed directly to BLOs. Singh also appealed to residents to carefully check their names and other particulars once the draft voter list is published, and said voters needing help can contact their area BLO, use the ECINet ‘Book a Call’ facility, or call Election Commission’s toll-free helpline, 1950.Haryana chief electoral officer A Sreenivas said the SIR exercise will run till July 14, with final electoral rolls scheduled for publication on Sept 22. Where enumeration forms have not been received, BLOs may verify status by enquiring with neighbouring residents and recording the likely reason — “absent,” “shifted,” “deceased” or “duplicate” — after visiting each such household at least three times, he said.Sreenivas added that booth-wise lists of voters excluded from the draft rolls, along with probable reasons for exclusion, will be displayed on notice boards at Panchayat Bhawans, urban local body offices and BDPO offices. ECI has directed all chief electoral officers to compile these lists and upload them in an accessible format on CEO and district election officer websites.
