Silchar: Rail connectivity to Mizoram remains disrupted after a massive landslide and soil erosion at Choraibak between Jamira and Bairabi damaged about 70 metres of track, suspending services on the Katakhal–Bairabi section. Adding to concerns, a fresh crack has appeared near the Dhaleswari river bridge at Killarbak in Assam’s Hailakandi district, close to a stretch repaired after erosion two years ago, reports BB Goswami. Locals fear monsoon currents may further weaken the embankment. NFR aims to restore Choraibak within a week, weather permitting.
