Sangrur: In a fresh set of poll assurances, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday promised free education up to graduation and annual medical insurance of Rs 25 lakh for every family if SAD formed the next govt in Punjab.Addressing rallies at Lehragaga and Khanauri in Sangrur district during the party’s ‘Punjab Bachao‘ campaign, Badal said private schools and colleges would also be required to reserve at least 50% of admissions for poor students.Citing SAD’s record, Badal said the party had made Punjab power-surplus by establishing thermal plants and would revive social welfare schemes discontinued by Congress and AAP govts. He further promised to increase wheat distribution under the aata-daal scheme from 10kg to 50kg per family, raise the Shagun benefit to Rs 1 lakh, increase the old-age pension to Rs 3,100 a month, reduce pension eligibility age to 60 for men and 55 for women.‘Ghuman collected crores’Accusing the AAP govt of indulging in rampant corruption, he challenged chief minister Bhagwant Mann’s assertion that a CBI raid at his camp office had yielded nothing. He alleged that Mann’s OSD, Rajbir Ghuman, had collected crores of rupees to facilitate postings and transfers. Badal also alleged that Ghuman and Amardeep Grewal had negotiated a Rs 5-crore deal involving a “serial rapist” and the chief minister’s wife, Gurpreet Kaur Mann. He asked both men to appear before CBI and ED if they were innocent.Claiming that the truth would emerge, he said AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann, and Manish Sisodia would eventually go to prison. He also accused AAP legislators of receiving monthly payments from drug traffickers and alleged that drugs were being delivered to homes across Punjab.
