New Delhi: A journey home from a gathering ended in a deadly attack for Shahid Hussain alias Chor (23), who was allegedly chased on his scooter and stabbed near Shriram Chowk in southeast Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj. Four men have been arrested, with police suspecting that a rivalry stemming from an altercation inside Tihar Jail in 2025 led to the murder. The attack, captured on CCTV cameras, unfolded in full public view. The footage shows four men on a motorcycle approaching Hussain, a resident of Abul Fazal Enclave in southeast Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh, as he rode his scooter. One of the men allegedly began stabbing him while he was still riding. The attackers then grabbed his shirt and pulled him off the scooter. In the ensuing chaos, the motorcycle also toppled, while the men allegedly continued stabbing Hussain as he lay on the road. Passengers in parked autos nearby ran for safety, while some people tried to intervene and save Hussain.According to police, Hussain had allegedly inflicted blade injuries on Tarun alias Ranjan, a bad character of Kalindi Kunj police station, when both were lodged in Tihar Jail. Investigators suspect Tarun later conspired with his associates to eliminate Hussain to take revenge. Tarun was, however, not among the attackers, sources said. The men, all armed with knives, allegedly started following Hussain when he was returning after attending a gathering at a restaurant near Basantpur Toll in Faridabad. One of the assailants allegedly also struck him with the butt of a pistol. On reaching the spot, police found bloodstains and the scooter. Hussain was already taken to hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The arrested men have been identified as Karan alias Karam Shah, Abuzer, Monu Malik alias Sabir and Gaurav Gumma.
