Four held with Rs 4.3L fake notes in Jaipur

Jaipur: Bajaj Nagar police and the Commissionerate’s Crime Branch Special Team (CST) have arrested four members of an interstate counterfeit currency syndicate and recovered fake notes with a face value of Rs 4.3 lakh, police said Saturday.Police also seized a Scorpio and a Fortuner, which were allegedly being used to transport the counterfeit currency. A case has been registered at Bajaj Nagar police station under Sections 178, 179 and 180 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.Special commissioner Om Prakash said the accused told investigators that they had procured the counterfeit notes from alleged syndicate kingpin Aman Rana, a resident of Gandhi Path in Rohtak, Haryana. Rana is currently operating the syndicate from Bangladesh, police said.According to investigators, the accused had brought the consignment to Jaipur to circulate the counterfeit notes during the upcoming municipal elections. Police are also checking their previous criminal records.The arrested accused have been identified as Anshul (24) of Rohtak, Sahil Chaudhary (24) of Fatehpur Sadar in Sikar, Priyanshu (21) of Rohtak, and Akash (26) of Kalanaur in Rohtak.Police said further interrogation was underway and more counterfeit currency could be recovered.
