Pune: Bharati Vidyapeeth police have arrested four men from the Katraj area for hacking to death Tejas Dattatray Pilane (24), a resident of Dhankawadi, on the service road of the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass around 1.30 am on Friday over a dispute related to dancing at a wedding ceremony.The assailants fled the crime scene and were initially untraceable. However, one of them logged into his social media account, which helped the police track their location.Pilane’s cousin, Pradip (27), lodged a complaint with the police on Saturday afternoon, stating that the four men had assaulted his cousin to death owing to an old rivalry. Pilane worked as a casual labourer.Senior inspector Rahul Khilare of Bharati Vidyapeeth police told TOI, “We have arrested Vishal Khopade (22) and Abhishek Khopade (23), both residents of Ambegaon, along with Adinath Kasabe (19) and Sachin Dhule (43), both residents of Katraj. We nabbed them from Shirwal in Satara on Saturday evening after one of them logged into his social media profile, which revealed their location.”A team led by sub-inspector Nilesh Mokashi began investigating the murder after Pilane was found in an injured condition on the service road. He was taken to a private hospital in Dhankawadi, where he was declared dead.“The probe revealed that the deceased and the suspects had a fight while dancing at a wedding ceremony on March 14 in Velhe. The suspects later decided to teach him a lesson and hacked him to death,” Khilare said.
