Gurgaon: While Pachgaon Chowk continues to top Gurgaon’s list of accident blackspots, a three-year analysis by District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) shows crashes are increasingly shifting to newer locations.Of the city’s 36 identified blackspots between 2023 and 2025, four — Gamroz toll plaza, SPR cloverleaf, Binola stretch and Manesar Ghati — have recorded a rise in both crashes and fatalities. A fifth, Manesar bus stand, has seen crash numbers hold steady but fatalities rose.Gamroz toll plaza saw one of the sharpest deteriorations: crashes held at eight through 2023 and 2024 before climbing to 11 in 2025, while injuries jumped from one to nine.

At SPR cloverleaf, crashes rose from three in 2023 to five in 2024 and eight in 2025, while fatalities climbed from zero to five.Binola stretch saw an even steeper climb — from one crash in 2023 to four in 2024, surging to 10 in 2025 — with deaths rising from none to five, making it one of the fastest-growing danger zones in the district.Manesar bus stand has remained consistently unsafe, recording 12 crashes in 2023 and eight each in 2024 and 2025. Fatalities there rose from three to five over the same period, leading the committee to flag it as showing an increasing trend.The most alarming increase was recorded at Manesar Ghati, which had no crashes in 2023, one in 2024, but five crashes and six fatalities in 2025. Injuries there jumped to 11 last year, marking the emergence of a serious new blackspot on NH-48.Pachgaon Chowk recorded 48 crashes, 28 deaths and 27 injuries over the three years, at a severity index of 447. Annual numbers, however, show crashes declining from 21 in 2024 to 14 in 2025, even as fatalities held steady at 11 — indicating that collisions at the junction are growing more severe rather than more frequent. Officials attributed most crashes to speeding, wrong-side driving, rash driving and unsafe pedestrian movement.In the severity index ranking, IFFCO Chowk, Bilaspur Chowk and Rajiv Chowk follow Pachgaon Chowk. IFFCO Chowk recorded 40 crashes over three years but saw annual numbers fall sharply, from 22 in 2023 to six in 2025. Bilaspur Chowk dropped from 15 crashes in 2024 to seven in 2025, while Rajiv Chowk fell from 17 in 2023 to six in 2025.Citywide, Gurgaon recorded 1,118 crashes in 2025, up 9% from 1,024 in 2024. Injuries rose 14.7%, from 706 to 810, while fatalities held nearly flat at 474, against 478 a year earlier. Pedestrian deaths, however, climbed 10%, from 180 to 198 — underlining the growing vulnerability of people on foot. NH-48 remained the deadliest corridor, with 234 crashes and 137 deaths through the year.Deputy commissioner Uttam Singh has directed agencies to prioritise engineering improvements, pedestrian safety measures, better lighting, signage and stricter enforcement at the identified blackspots as part of the district’s ‘zero fatality district’ initiative. “Reducing the number of accidents and making roads safer is our priority,” Singh said.
