LUCKNOW: A major fire broke out in the Vikas Nagar area of Lucknow on Monday afternoon, triggering a swift response from the Fire and Emergency Services and prompting the evacuation of nearby shops as a precautionary measure. The blaze, which erupted near Tedhi Puliya along Kursi Road, sent plumes of thick smoke into the sky, drawing large crowds and disrupting traffic in the busy locality.According to the Fire Department, information about the fire was received at 11:58 am, following which fire tenders from Indira Nagar, Hazratganj and Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) fire stations were immediately dispatched to the spot. The first fire tender from Indira Nagar reached the site at 12:11 pm and launched firefighting operations without delay. Additional firefighting units soon arrived, enabling personnel to contain the blaze before it spread to adjoining structures. As a safety measure, around ten shops located near the affected site were evacuated, while police and local authorities barricaded a stretch of Kursi Road to keep onlookers away and ensure the smooth movement of emergency vehicles.Firefighters also faced operational challenges as the area has narrow approach lanes, allowing the movement of only four fire tenders at a time, which made access to the affected spot difficult. After sustained firefighting efforts, officials succeeded in bringing the fire completely under control. The Fire Department confirmed that the blaze was fully extinguished and no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Officials said an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the origin of the blaze and assess the extent of damage caused to the affected property.
