Lucknow: An altercation over a food delivery turned violent in Jankipuram extension after a man objected to receiving non-vegetarian food against his order, with three men allegedly entering his house and assaulting him before damaging his mobile phone and car, according to an FIR lodged on Sunday night.The incident took place between 1.27 pm and 1.45 pm on Saturday, according to the complaint lodged at Jankipuram police station.The complainant, Akash Mishra, told police that he had ordered vegetarian food through an online food-delivery platform. Around 1.27 pm, a delivery partner arrived at his residence with the order. Mishra said he noticed that the packet carried a non-vegetarian label and objected to it.According to the complaint, a heated argument followed between Mishra and the delivery partner. Mishra said he told the delivery person that he had ordered vegetarian food and questioned why non-vegetarian food had been delivered. The delivery partner allegedly told him that the vegetarian food had run out.The argument subsequently ended with the delivery partner disconnecting the call, after which Mishra said he lodged a complaint with the food-delivery platform.Around 1.45 pm, the delivery person allegedly called again and said he had brought the vegetarian order and wanted the earlier packet returned.Mishra said that when he opened the gate, three men entered his house and attacked him.According to the FIR, one of the attackers wearing a metal bracelet hit Mishra on his left ear and face, while another allegedly held a solid object and the third restrained him from behind.Mishra suffered an injury to his left ear, with the complaint stating that his eardrum was perforated and that he experienced bleeding and temporary loss of hearing. He also reported dizziness and said he collapsed following the assault.The complainant further said that during the attack, one of the assailants told another to “hit him more”. The three men allegedly threatened him with dire consequences if he reported the incident.The attackers also allegedly smashed his iPhone and damaged the windscreen of his car with a stone before fleeing.Mishra said his elderly, ailing mother was inside the house at the time. Unable to move around without assistance, she reportedly raised an alarm after hearing the commotion.Mishra said that the delivery partner’s identity was registered in another person’s name and that the individual who actually arrived at his house was someone else. He told police that he could identify the person.During subsequent inquiries in the neighbourhood, Mishra named Aman Gupta and Akash Gautam as two suspected attackers, while the third person’s identity remained unknown.Mishra alleged that the assault appeared to have been premeditated, and that the men may have entered his house with an intention to cause him further harm.After the attackers left, he said he remained unconscious for nearly 10 minutes before regaining consciousness and informing his family using another phone. He later went to the police station and was sent for medical examination before being referred to Balrampur Hospital for treatment.Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections 115(2), 351(2), 333 and 324(4).SHO Jankipuram, Vinod Tiwari said that police are examining the circumstances surrounding the food-delivery dispute, the identity of the men involved and the sequence leading to the alleged assault. Records relating to the food order and delivery are also likely to form part of the investigation.
