FIR filed against ex-principal, administrator over ₹41 lakh student fee embezzlement in Barabanki nursing college

Lucknow: Police have registered an FIR against the former principal and former administrator of a private nursing college in Barabanki over the alleged misappropriation of about ₹41 lakh collected from students under multiple fee heads.The case was lodged at Zaidpur police station on a complaint by Mohd Najeeb Ashraf Chaudhary, director of IRSR & Shakeel College of Nursing, Zaidpur. The FIR names former principal Sunita Sahni and her husband Mahendra Bhindia, who served as the college administrator.According to the complaint, Sahni headed the institution from June 2018 to January 2025. Bhindia, who joined as a computer operator, was later appointed administrator. The college management alleged that the two collected money from ANM students in the name of admission forms, practical fees, scholarship-related charges, hospital duty and other expenses, but did not deposit the amounts in the institution’s account.The complaint stated that the funds were allegedly retained and misappropriated. Both Sahni and Bhindia resigned on Jan 21, 2025, after the alleged irregularities came to light.Zaidpur SHO Santosh Kumar Singh said an FIR has been registered and an investigation is underway. He said statements of students will be recorded during the probe. Police are examining fee records, receipts, bank transactions and other documents to verify the allegations and determine the extent of any embezzlement.
