FIR against two X users for objectionable posts targeting Telangana CM

Hyderabad: The city cybercrime police registered a criminal case against the operators of two handles on the platform ‘X’, for allegedly posting defamatory and abusive content targeting chief minister A Revanth Reddy.In the police complaint filed on Thursday, Kailash Sajjan, state secretary of the Telangana Congress party social media wing, alleged that he came across multiple posts by the account containing vulgar language targeting the CM and the state govt.The complaint further named another account alleging that it tagged one of the objectionable posts and used abusive language in Telugu against the CM.Sajjan alleged that the posts were published with malicious intent to tarnish the CM’s image, incite enmity between various sections of society and disturb public peace. He submitted screenshots of the posts and also a copy of an earlier FIR registered against one of the accounts in 2024 at the Hyderabad cybercrime PS.Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Section 67 of the IT Act and Sections 196 (promoting enmity between different groups), 353(2) (statements conducing to public mischief), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS on Thursday.
