FIR against Mirzapur crusher plant owner, staff after four workers killed

Varanasi: An FIR was lodged against the owner and management staff of a crusher plant in Mirzapur after four workers were killed when a structure collapsed following vibrations caused by blasting at the site on Saturday. The incident took place around 2 pm at a crusher plant on Bhagwati Dei hill in the Ahraura police station area. Mirzapur administration and police ensured the registration of the FIR against the unit owner and management staff.During an inspection by senior officials, it came to light that the room stood on an earthen, rocky mound. Rain had left the soil wet and loose, while two blasts at a nearby mining site caused vibrations, which are suspected to have contributed to the collapse, he said.Mirzapur district magistrate Pawan Kumar Gangwar said the exact cause—whether rain-related soil movement or blasting—would be confirmed only after a detailed investigation.Mirzapur SP Aparna Rajat Kaushik said the FIR was lodged under Section 105 of the BNS against Madhusudan Singh, Manoj Yadav, Shivkumar Patel, Vinod Patel, Anand Patel and other unidentified persons on the complaint of Suryabali, cousin of one of the four workers, Duryodhan Vishwakarma. In his complaint, Suryabali alleged that during blasting at the mining site, the dilapidated room and dug area collapsed, burying all four workers under the debris. He alleged that the incident occurred because safety norms were deliberately overlooked and compromised. The workers were identified as Shok Gond (35), Lalbahadur Baiga (35), Duryodhan Vishwakarma (28) and Rakesh Gond (28), all residents of Baad village under the Jugail police station area of Sonbhadra district.
