Varanasi: A 35-year-old woman has lodged an FIR against her husband, a deputy registrar at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), alleging that he assaulted and threatened her over his purported relationship with another woman associated with the varsity.In her complaint, the woman alleged that her husband, A Velu, was involved in a relationship with a nursing officer at the varsity-run hospital and that the alleged affair had caused serious discord in her family life.She claimed that about a week ago, she found the two together at the nursing officer’s residence, where, she alleged, her husband assaulted her and threatened to kill her.The complainant further stated that the marital dispute had adversely affected the mental well-being of her children.Lanka police station in charge Raj Kumar Sharma said that an FIR had been registered under Sections 85 (cruelty by husband), 115(2) (causing hurt) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A woman sub-inspector has been assigned to investigate the case.He said further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
