Lucknow: An FIR has been registered on court orders after a 30-year-old Bahraich woman alleged that a spiritual healer pressured her to convert to Islam while claiming to treat her children through rituals.The complainant, Rama Devi of Tulsipur village, said she had been in contact with the accused, identified as Puttan (35) of Begampur, for some time as her two children (aged 10 and 14) had been unwell for a long time.According to her complaint, Puttan claimed to provide spiritual healing and had been treating the children through rituals.Rama Devi alleged that on Jan 9, Puttan called her to a shrine and, on the pretext of arranging further spiritual treatment, took her on a motorcycle to another location. There, she claimed, he pressured her to embrace Islam and offered her ₹2 lakh to convert.She further alleged that when she refused, the accused threatened to kill her and warned her of serious consequences.The woman told the court that she approached Dargah Sharif police station the following day and lodged a complaint, but the matter was reportedly settled after she was persuaded to withdraw it.She subsequently sought intervention through the IGRS portal on Feb 24 and also sent complaints by registered post to the IG and SP on Feb 26. However, she alleged that no action was taken on her representations.Left with no other option, Rama Devi approached the additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM) court.Inspector in charge Ramagya Singh said the FIR has been registered and investigation was underway.
