Chandigarh: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has added Punjab-linked gangster Major Singh to its wanted list over his alleged role in a transnational crime network operated by Jaggu Bhagwanpuria organised crime group.Major Singh is among those named in a federal indictment unsealed in July under Operation Hard Ball, an FBI-led crackdown targeting crime networks of India-based gangs. A federalA federal arrest warrant was issued for Singh on June 25 by the US district court in Los Angeles, California, for racketeering conspiracy and conspiracy to deal in firearms without a licence.According to the indictment, Singh and co-defendants Gurlal Singh and Sahibdeep Singh unlawfully transported and sold firearms without a licence, conducting transactions in public parking lots across Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties. Federal authorities alleged the Bhagwanpuria crime group originated in Punjab and operated in California and elsewhere. The syndicate was allegedly involved in racketeering, illicit arms dealing and narcotics trafficking spanning India and the US.US prosecutors have alleged that Gurlal shared information about a California-based target with then Tanda SHO Gurinderjit Singh Nagra for falsely implicating a person in a murder case. Nagra was subsequently arrested by Punjab Police in a corruption and extortion case and suspended.
