Farmers plan 10-day march against US deal from Aug 15

Bathinda: Farmer group Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) has announced a 10-day protest march from Khanauri to Jantar Mantar in Delhi from Aug 15 if dairy, agriculture, and allied sectors are included in the India-US trade deal.SKM (Non-Political) convener Jagjit Singh Dallewal said the march will launch from the exact spot near Khanauri where young farmer Shubhkaran Singh was killed on Feb 21, 2024, and is expected to reach the capital by Aug 25. The announcement came during a Tuesday protest in Delhi where members of the farmer group raised slogans against the visiting US delegation for talks, accusing US President Donald Trump of pressuring India into a deal that the Centre is allegedly executing on his diktats. The Punjab chapter of the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha has planned to burn effigies of Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi across the state on Wednesday.
