Guwahati: For the family members of Himanta Biswa Sarma, his swearing in as the chief minister of the state for the second consecutive term was the outcome of towering blessings from the people and his relentless hard work for the state’s development.They said Sarma will continue to work with the same zeal for the state and its people, as he became the only non-Congress chief minister to assume the office for the second consecutive term.Octogenarian Mrinalini Devi came on a wheel-chair to attend her son’s swearing in at the Veterinary College playground at Khanapara in the city on Tuesday.“I am feeling very happy today. And I want to share this joy with the people, with the youth and with everyone. This happiness belongs to all. He will continue to work for the state and its people, and contribute to nation-building. My blessings are always with him,” she said.Meanwhile, Himanta’s wife Riniki Bhuyan Sharma credited the wishes of the people for his success and said it was a humbling moment for the entire family. “It is because of his hard work, the blessings of the almighty and the blessings of the people of Assam that he has reached this position,” she added.Riniki added that her husband has always maintained the lifestyle of a common man and worked hard. “People have complete faith in BJP and trust in Himanta, and he will continue to work even harder to remain in the hearts of the people of Assam,” she said.Their children Nandil and Sukanya expressed delight at their father’s achievement.Nandil said, “In the last five years, Papa has done very good work as chief minister, and we hope he continues to work for the people of Assam in the same way. Over the last five years, the BJP govt has done exemplary work for the people of the state and that is why the people of the state have given him the mandate.”Meanwhile, Sukanya said she has seen her father working day and night for the development of the state. Sometimes, even in his sleep, he talks about how to develop Assam and do better for the people. He works extremely hard, and today we all witnessed the moment he deserved.” However, she said, Himanta also gives time to his family and never isolates them.
