Falakata BJP MLA ‘roughed up’, 6 arrested | Kolkata News



Jalpaiguri: Falakata MLA Dipak Barman, also the constituency’s BJP candidate, was allegedly roughed up by locals on Tuesday evening at Kadambini tea estate, where he was on campaign.As Barman reached the garden and got down from his vehicle, a crowd stopped him from entering the garden. When he tried to force his way through, he was pushed back. This led to a altercation during which Barman stumbled and fell. His security personnel chased the demonstrators away. A driver of one of the cars in Barman’s convoy sustained a head injury.Accusing TMC of planning the alleged attack, BJP staged a road blockade in Falakata Chowpathy. TMC rubbished the allegationWhile Barman has not lodged a complaint, six people have been arrested.
