Mumbai: CM Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday defended the Delhi police action on protesters at Jantar Mantar, saying that had the police not taken control, many unwanted incidents could have happened.“No govt wants to use force against its people. Police showed great restraint and took only the necessary action. If we go in depth, there are elements that have infiltrated (the protest) to further their agenda. They have nothing to do with NEET,” he said. The CM was speaking to the media in Mumbai after inaugurating a photo exhibition on late Ajit Pawar on his birth anniversary.Fadnavis further said, “When an agitation is faceless and leaderless, certain elements enter and use the protesters’ shoulders to achieve their goals. Even at the protest in Delhi, various political parties are making efforts for political gains. Organisations which have nothing to do with the issue are trying to spread anarchy.”He added, “In a democracy, everyone has a right to agitate keeping in mind the responsibility placed by the Constitution. It is not proper to agitate without permission to create political unrest. Strict action will be taken.”
