Experts from IITs, NITs to be part of Mantra panel

Surat: Man Made Textiles Research Association (Mantra), one of the leading textile research institutes recognised by the Union ministry of textiles, has further strengthened its research advisory committee by appointing eminent experts from IITs, NITs, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) and the textile industry.Mantra is actively engaged in advanced research, innovation, technology development and knowledge enhancement across technical textiles and the conventional textile sector. The latest appointments are aimed at further strengthening the institute’s research activities and ensuring that its programmes remain aligned with the evolving technological needs and requirements of the textile industry.The research advisory committee will guide Mantra in identifying new and emerging areas of research, evaluating research proposals, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, strengthening industry-academia linkages and translating research outcomes into technologies for commercial and industrial applications.“The inclusion of a representative from the textile industry along with experts from leading academic institutions will further strengthen Mantra’s innovation-driven, application-oriented and industry-focused research capabilities. The committee will play an important role in providing a new direction to research and development in technical textiles, advanced materials, sustainable textile technologies and other emerging areas of strategic importance to the textile sector,” said Pankaj Gandhi, director, Mantra.
