Kolkata: Former Trinamool Congress councillor Nirmal Dutta was arrested from Salt Lake on Wednesday for allegedly issuing veiled threats to voters, police said. He was produced before the Bidhannagar sub-divisional court, which rejected his bail plea and remanded him to judicial custody till April 24.According to police sources, the arrest followed a viral video that recently came to their notice. In the footage, Dutta is purportedly seen addressing a neighbourhood meeting where he appears to warn voters indirectly. He is heard suggesting that Aadhaar cards are linked with voter ID cards and that he would be able to know who voted for whom.The BJP also lodged a complaint with the police regarding the video. Acting on the footage, Bidhannagar South police station registered a case and arrested Dutta.
