Hyderabad: Commenting on the quality of education during an interaction programme with teachers, chief minister Revanth Reddy criticised engineering graduates who lacked basic skills.“Every year nearly 1.1 lakh graduates pass out from engineering colleges. Many of them, if you ask them to write an application for a job on a plain paper, they cannot write it. Their education is a criminal waste,” the CM said.“Parents of those engineering graduates come for jobs to me. These graduates don’t have any technical skills and cannot work for small jobs,” he said.“English language is only a medium and cannot decide your skills. If English was the only criterion, China would not have dominated the world. Only 10% of the people in countries such as China, Germany and Japan know English. But they are ruling the world,” the CM said.“For 25 years, we have been focusing on white collar jobs, and have looked towards America. Now, we must focus on countries such as Germany, Japan, and Singapore where abundant opportunities are available,” Revanth said.KTR demands apologyBRS working president KT Rama Rao objected to the CM’s comments in an X post, saying: “What are his qualification to say so? Did he ever write any competitive exam in his entire life? Did he ever appear for a job interview? Did he ever work anywhere in a professional environment?”Former minister T Harish Rao also condemned Revanth’s remarks and said it is unfortunate that the CM even insulted the teachers who taught students engineering. He demanded an apology from the CM to the students.
