Surat: A young engaged couple’s relationship ended in tragedy in Sarthana on Monday afternoon, when both allegedly poisoned themselves in a hotel room. While the woman succumbed, the man is battling for life in hospital.Police said Abhay Trada (23) and Mansi Umrethiya (23) were in a relationship and had recently got engaged with their families’ consent.According to investigators, the couple checked into La Marina Hotel near Simada Gam. They allegedly ingested a highly toxic fumigant insecticide inside their room.Mansi died at the scene, while Abhay was rushed to a hospital, where his condition remains critical.Sarthana police inspector D K Patel said, “They were engaged and were to get married soon. They checked-in to La Marina Hotel near Simada Gam. They took a highly toxic insecticide. We are investigating what may have led to the extreme step.”
