Edu dept asks officials to map all saplings planted in 2 yrs under Hariyalo Rajasthan campaign

Jaipur: The state education department has asked officials to map all saplings planted in the last two years under the Hariyalo Rajasthan campaign and check their survival rate.State govt had said that over 14 crore saplings were planted in two years. Govt is now preparing this data to be ready with answers if questions are raised during the assembly session.State govt’s data shows that of the total plantations done, 2.85 crore saplings have been verified, of which 2.24 crore plants have survived in the past two years and 60.55 lakh plants have died. For the rest of the saplings, the verification process has not been completed yet.“Large-scale plantation drives were conducted under the state govt-run Hariyalo-Rajasthan mission during the financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26, with 14.647 crore saplings geo-tagged on the Hariyalo App during this period. To ensure an effective and transparent assessment of the mission’s progress, it is imperative to conduct a time-bound verification of the plantations recorded on the Hariyalo App,” states an order issued by the secondary education director Thursday. The order was issued after a review meeting by state govt in the third week of Aug found that the verification of plantations by several departments is not proceeding at the expected pace on the ‘Hariyalo’ app.Meanwhile, similar instructions were issued by the Jaipur Municipal Corporation Thursday, stating that targets for plantation for 2026-27 have not been completed. Against a target of 2.36 lakh plantations, 2 lakh saplings were planted this year and 84.7% have been geo-tagged.
