Ghaziabad: A man has been arrested after seven people were struck down by his car in three separate collisions in the Niwari area Sunday. Police said he was under the influence of alcohol.The victims are Lokendra (49), Vishal (21), Dinesh Kashyap (31), Sapna (36), and her children — Uttam Gautam (5), Priyanshi (15) and Prachi (17).ACP (Modinagar) Bhaskar Verma said around 8 pm, Ajay Kumar (28) was driving from Modinagar to Niwari in a Swift Dzire. At first, he struck Lokendra’s cycle in front of MIT College on Niwari Road. About 100 metres away, near Hanuman Chowk, he hit a bike. Sapna, her husband Deepak and their three children were on that bike. Sapna and the children suffered injuries while Deepak escaped unhurt.Later, he hit an e-rickshaw and injured its driver, Vishal, and a passenger, Dinesh. “Unable to control his vehicle, Kumar then hit a tree in front of the SBI branch,” the ACP said. Police teams took the injured people to a nearby hospital. All of them are stable now.An FIR has been registered against Kumar under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections.
