Silchar: Cachar police seized drugs worth over Rs 2 crore and arrested two persons from Mizoram, officials said on Saturday.Acting on a tip-off about the movement of contraband, a naka check was set up along NH-37 at Kanthagram under Lakhipur police station limits on Friday evening. A SUV was intercepted during the operation and two occupants were taken into custody.During a search of the vehicle, police recovered 1.065kg of morphine in crude form and 22 grams of heroin concealed in two soap cases. The contraband, along with the vehicle and two mobile phones, was seized.Additional SP (crime), Cachar, Rajat Kumar Pal said preliminary tests confirmed the presence of heroin and morphine. “The estimated value of the seized narcotics is over Rs 2 crore in the black market,” he said.The arrested individuals have been identified as David Hmar and Rolamal Hmar, both residents of Kolasib district in Mizoram.
