Dhubri : Two persons sustained serious injuries when a drug peddler, Ashraful Haque, attacked a mob protesting against his illegal drug business at Bheta Bazar on Friday. A police source said Haque has been detained and is being interrogated.On receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. However, by then, a mob of nearly 500 residents damaged a motorbike and ransacked Haque’s house.Locals of the Bheta Bazar area alleged that Haque was running a drug syndicate from his residence for a long time despite several warning to stop the business.Talking to TOI, a resident of the area, Azizul Rahman, said, “All day long, there is a queue of youths in front his house to buy drugs. Haque even made counter in front of his house. Despite several complains to the police, no action has been taken against the peddler.”Locals went to Haque’s residence on Friday to confront him and ask him to stop his business. However, Haque refused to comply and attacked them with sharp weapon, injuring two persons — Feroz Ali and Abed Ali.
