Shillong: The East Khasi Hills district election office on Wednesday released the draft electoral rolls at the deputy commissioner’s office in Shillong following the completion of an intensive electoral roll revision exercise across the district.Deputy commissioner and district election officer Abhilash Baranwal commended booth-level officers (BLOs), BLO supervisors, electoral registration officers and assistant electoral registration officers for completing the intensive electoral roll revision exercise within a month.Baranwal said officials distributed and collected forms, visited households, helped electors complete the documents and addressed their concerns about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).Copies of the draft rolls were handed over to representatives of political parties. Claims and objections may be filed from August 5 to September 4, while the final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on October 7.In East Garo Hills, election officer RP Marak handed over draft electoral rolls for the district’s three assembly segments to representatives of national and regional political parties.The rolls will be available for eligible voters at the offices of the block development officers and the district election officer at Williamnagar. Claims and objections will be disposed of by October 3, and aggrieved electors may appeal to the district election officer.
