Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Shramik Pravidhik Shiksha Sahaayata Yojana is a key labour welfare scheme of the Uttar Pradesh government. It provides financial assistance to the children of registered workers and labourers for pursuing technical, vocational, and professional education.The scheme offers annual support of up to Rs 25,000 for degree-level technical courses (such as B. Tech, BBA, BCA, MBBS, etc.), Rs 15,000 for diploma courses (polytechnic, etc.), and Rs 10,000 for certificate/ITI-level courses. Its main objective is to promote skill development and higher education among workers’ families and break the cycle of intergenerational poverty by enabling better career opportunities for the next generation. Salient Features of the Scheme

1. Eligibility CriteriaThe applicant (student) must be the son or daughter of a registered construction/worker/labourer in Uttar Pradesh. The parent must be registered with the Uttar Pradesh Labour Welfare Board and employed in an establishment covered under the Shops & Establishments Act, 1962 or Factories Act, 1948.The parent’s monthly income (basic + DA) should not exceed Rs 24,000–Rs 25,000. The student must be enrolled in a recognised technical/professional course in a government or approved private institution. Only one or a maximum of two children per worker are generally eligible, and the benefit is provided only once in a lifetime for the course.2. Key Benefits

  • Degree-level technical/professional courses (B. Tech, MBA, MBBS, BCA, etc.): Rs 25,000 per year.
  • Diploma courses (Polytechnic, PG Diploma, etc.): Rs 15,000 per year.

  • The assistance is given as a one-time annual financial aid through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) directly into the student’s bank account for the duration of the course.

  • Required Documents: Parent’s Labour Registration Certificate, Aadhaar Card (student & parent), Income Certificate, Admission/Enrollment proof & Fee Receipt, Bank Account details, Passport-size photo, Caste Certificate (if applicable), and Domicile Certificate.
